Five Years of the Maryland Appellate Blog

By Steve Klepper (Twitter: @MDAppeal)

The Maryland Appellate Blog officially launched five years ago today. The launch coincided with the first arguments of the September 2013 Term, which was Chief Judge Barbera’s first full term as chief judge.

The biggest story of that time is that, for five straight years, the Court of Appeals has met the standard Chief Judge Barbera announced in October 2013: to decide every case during the same term it was argued. Before then, the Court in some cases took five or more years to issue an opinion after argument.

This is the blog’s 379th post, meaning we’ve averaged just under 1.5 posts per week. We’ve had just over 200,000 views.

Big thanks to our readers, our terrific editorial board, and the MSBA Section of Litigation. Special thanks go to Diane Feuerherd, who took over as blog manager in December, and who is a true rising star of the Maryland appellate bar. With your support, we hope to keep going for many years to come.
