Meet the Applicants for the Appellate Court (First Appellate Judicial Circuit)
Seven applicants have applied for the Appellate Court vacancy that will be created by the retirement of Judge Christopher B. Kehoe. The First Appellate Judicial Circuit includes Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico and Worcester Counties.
The applicants are:
- Honorable Stephen Hughes Kehoe, the County Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Talbot County
- Sanya Sarich Kerksiek, an attorney at the Department of Justice and former senior law clerk and chief of staff to Judge Nazarian
- James Bowman McAllister, the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County
- Andrew Charles Meehan of the MacLeod Law Group
- George Robert Mowell, the Deputy State’s Attorney for Kent County
- Honorable Brenda Alverta Sexton, the County Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Cecil County
- Magistrate Mark Andrew Tyler1 of the Circuit Court for Somerset County
The Appellate Courts Judicial Nominating Commission is scheduled to meet on Friday, January 12, 2024, to select nominees. Thereafter, nominees will be forwarded to Governor Moore for consideration.
Because Carrie Williams and Diane Feuerherd are members of the Appellate Courts Judicial Nominating Commission, they will not be participating in the blog’s coverage of appellate judicial nominations.
